The terminal and the trading desk
Context Chart is building a research terminal for understanding markets and runs an AI trading desk that acts on market context. Central banks, economic data, flows and price all belong in the same picture.
The desk trades its own money first. A few invited accounts trade beside it, each with its own broker and at its own risk. Investors can review the desk’s recorded trades through their portal.
Our research and development bring together expert traders and developers with more than a decade of combined experience. We investigate how markets move, how a market view becomes a trade, and what evidence a result can carry.
Our questions often begin at the screen. Why did a trade lose when its direction was right? Why does the same price distance feel generous at one hour and tight at another? How many positions are really separate bets?
We define the thing we are trying to understand, measure it, compare it with a meaningful baseline, and look for where the explanation stops working. The findings shape how we design and evaluate our own research and trading systems.
Why we share our ideas
We expected these ideas to be familiar to experienced traders. In a ContextChart survey of around 1,000 traders, 64% were unfamiliar with the concepts we asked about. Conversations with successful traders surprised us too.
That is our reported finding within the people surveyed. It motivated a practical question: could we make the ideas easier to understand, investigate, and use?
Ideas shares some of the working behind our products. One series, The Maths Every Day Trader Should Know, makes these questions explorable before opening the equations and supporting studies.
The work behind the explanations
The research terminal is in development. The trading desk has its own investor invitation and recorded-trade journey. Our published ideas are a window into the thinking behind that work. The supporting studies explain particular measurements, including their samples, assumptions and unresolved questions.
These are related jobs. Learning the arithmetic does not itself establish a trading advantage. A simulated path is not an achieved result, and a profitable result alone does not identify which decision caused it.
How we earn confidence
We keep four kinds of statement distinct: a definition or mathematical relationship, a result under stated model assumptions, an observation from a historical sample, and a hypothesis that still needs evidence.
We record what information was available before an outcome. We examine individual instruments before relying on a pooled average. We test whether a finding changes across periods and compare it with an appropriate alternative. Costs, timing, and dependent observations belong in that comparison.
Corrections are part of the work. Some early runner conclusions changed after a counting error was corrected. Some proposed signals failed their tests. A later range study revised how we interpreted the daily ruler used in earlier work. We retain the research history while presenting the currently supported explanation first.
